The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which kid filmmakers create short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in just a few minutes. Creative takes are encouraged: think Charlotte's Web as a horror movie, or The Tale of Desperaux as a musical!
For thirteen years we've screened the best kid-made movies annually in New York, Chicago, Boston, and many other cities . . . and now right here in Gig Harbor, at the Galaxy Theater!
Make your FREE reservation for the GIG HARBOR screening of this year's 90-Second Newbery. The screening is hosted by children's author James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) and another co-host to be announced. We'll be showing movies made by kids from Gig Harbor and some of the best from around the country.
The Gig Harbor 90-Second Newbery will screen on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 3pm-5pm at the Galaxy Theater.
Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance. Although a reservation is recommended, you don't have to bring a printed ticket. And if you want to make a donation to keep the film festival going, we'd certainly appreciate it!
(Interested in making your own 90-Second Newbery movie? Great! The deadline is March 8, 2024. You can find complete details, plus video resources, at the 90-Second Newbery website: http://www.90secondnewbery.com.)
