ABOUT ABOUT

The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which kid filmmakers create short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in just a few minutes. Creative takes are encouraged: think Charlotte's Web as a horror movie, or The Tale of Desperaux as a musical!

For thirteen years we've screened the best kid-made movies annually in New York, Chicago, Boston, and many other cities . . . including right here in Rochester, at the George Eastman Museum!

Make your FREE reservation for the ROCHESTER screening of this year's 90-Second Newbery. The screening is hosted by children's authors James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) and the legendary Bruce Coville (The Unicorn Chronicles, Aliens Ate My Homework, and much more).

We'll be showing movies made by kids from the Rochester area and some of the best from around the country.

This year, the Rochester 90-Second Newbery will screen on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 2-4 pm in the Dryden Theater at the George Eastman Museum. Books will be available for sale, and you can hang out with the authors and filmmakers!

Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance. Although a reservation is recommended, you don't have to bring a printed ticket. And if you want to make a donation to keep the film festival going, we'd certainly appreciate it!

(Interested in making your own 90-Second Newbery movie? Great! The deadline is March 8, 2024. You can find complete details, plus video resources, at the 90-Second Newbery website: http://www.90secondnewbery.com.)
